The Fasig-Tipton November Sale has catalogued 23 Grade 1 winners or producers in 2017! Over the next few days, we’ll profile each of racing’s leading ladies to be offered at The November Sale.

A two-time champion by Bernstein, Tepin is an exceptionally accomplished runner who was a graded stakes winner at two on the dirt and a multiple Grade/Group 1 winner on turf at four and five. With 13 wins in 23 starts, and an additional six placings, Tepin has won Grade or Group 1 events in three countries on two continents, defeating the best of her generation of both sexes. She earned more than $4,400,000 in a truly historical career. She is carrying her first foal, by Curlin.

Champion Finest City is five-year-old daughter of City Zip who, like Catch a Glimpse, is one of his impressive four Breeders’ Cup Champions over the course of 2014-2016. This iron mare has started 19 times to date, with at least five starts each year from age three through five, and has won or placed 15 times. Starting exclusively in graded stakes company since March of her four-year-old season, Finest City has earned over $1,200,000 and has not been off the board in 2017.

The ‘Stars’ Align at The November Sale

NovemberSale_cover_FINALFasig-Tipton has catalogued 192 entries for The November Sale, the company’s selected mixed sale to be held in Lexington, Kentucky on Monday, November 6.  The single-session sale will begin at 4 pm.

“This is an outstanding catalogue from top to bottom – there is depth, diversity, and quality,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning.

“The evening will begin with 81 selected weanlings – the strongest group of foals we have put together in many years – and then move into a top rung collection of racing stars and high class broodmares,” Browning continued.  “In total, this year’s catalogue features 50 graded stakes winners or producers, 22 of which are Grade 1, three Eclipse Champions and four Breeders’ Cup winners.  Nearly eighty percent of the racing/broodmare prospects and broodmares catalogued are black type earners or producers.”

The catalogue may now be viewed online, including Fasig-Tipton’s unique Enhanced Catalogue.

The Enhanced Catalogue provides continuously updated catalogue pages, Daily Racing Form past performances, and race replays; an Alan Porter pedigree analysis for all racing/broodmare prospects and broodmares; as well as photos, statistics, and other resources.  Additionally, all Grade 1 winning females off the racetrack or carrying their first foals are profiled with individual feature videos.

Print catalogues will be available beginning October 17.  The catalogue will also be available via the Equineline sales catalogue app.

The November Sale will also offer a supplemental catalogue once again.  Fasig-Tipton will accept selected entries for the supplement through the Breeders’ Cup.

Eclipse Champion Finest City to be offered at Fasig-Tipton November Sale

FINEST CITY, 2016 Eclipse Champion Female Sprinter, will be offered at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale on November 6 in Lexington, Kentucky.  She will be consigned by trainer Ian Steele Kruljac on behalf of owner Seltzer Thoroughbreds.

FINEST CITY defeated seven G1 winners, including defending champion WAVELL AVENUE and PAULASSILVERLINING, in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint on her way to Eclipse Award honors.  The multiple graded stakes winner and millionaire also established a new track record for 6 ½ furlongs in winning the 2016 Great Lady M Stakes (G2) at Los Alamitos.

“Finest City has been a dream to care for,” said Kruljac. “Her brilliance, durability, versatility and personality have given us a lifetime of memories.  She has battled the best mares of her generation on any surface and at any distance.”

A versatile and consistent performer at the highest levels, FINEST CITY has earned black type in 10 graded stakes races at four different race tracks.  A multiple graded stakes winner at 6 ½ and 7 furlongs on dirt, FINEST CITY is also multiple G1 placed on dirt at distances ranging from 1 mile to 1 1/8 miles.  She was also beaten just a head in last year’s John C. Mabee S. (G2) on turf.

A five-year-old daughter of City Zip, FINEST CITY is out of the multiple stakes performer Be Envied, who is also a multiple stakes producer.  Her deep female family includes grade 1 winning two-year-olds BURNING ROMA and SQUANDER.

FINEST CITY will make her final start in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Del Mar, where she will defend her title.

Cover Song (Hip 176), a graded stakes winner in her most recent start sold for $1,600,000 at The November Sale. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, she was purchased by Bobby Flay (James Delahooke, agent) from the consignment of Spendthrift Farm.

A daughter of MG1W Misty for Me (IRE), Cover Song won the Autumn Miss S. (G3) on October 29. She has earned $117,695 to date.

By two-time Champion Fastnet Rock, Cover Song is a half-sister to G2W two-year-old of this year Roly Poly. She is from the immediate family of G1W’s Desert Wine, Menifee, and Fasliyev.

Jacaranda (Hip 154), a graded stakes winner carrying her first foal sold for $2,000,000 at The November Sale. She was purchased by Alpha Delta (Reynolds Bell, agent) from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent.

By Congrats, Jacaranda won the Tempted S. (G3) at two and earned $207,00 in her career. Out of Baffled, who sold for $3,500,000 earlier this evening, Jacaranda is a half-sister to MG1W Constitution and G2W two-year-old of 2016 Boynton. She is from the immediate family of G1W’s Emcee and Awesome Humor and G2W Surfer.

Jacaranda is carrying her first foal, by Candy Ride (ARG). Champion Candy Ride is the sire of 56 black-type winners and the earners of more than $61 million to date. He is the sire of Champion Shared Belief, as well as G1W’s Misremembered, Sidney’s Candy, and Twirling Candy.

Hip 142 Haveyougoneaway – $1,100,000

Haveyougoneaway (Hip 142), a current G1 winner by Congrats sold for $1,100,000 at The November Sale. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, Haveyougoneaway was purchased by Lake Villa Farm from the consignment of Sequel Bloodstock, agent.

An earner of $907,425 to date, Haveyougoneaway’s biggest score came this summer at Saratoga when she annexed the Ballerina S. (G1). Prior to that start, she captured the Honorable Miss H. (G2). This progressive New York-bred has won or placed in 21 of 27 starts to date, with six wins in stakes company.

Haveyougoneaway hails from the immediate family of G1 winning millionaire On the Line and GSW Regal Remark.

Hip 140 Lady Zuzu – $2,350,000

Lady Zuzu (Hip 140), a winning daughter of Dynaformer sold for $2,350,000 at The November Sale. Offered in foal to sire of Champions War Front, Lady Zuzu was purchased by Wertheimer & Frere from the consignment of Three Chimneys Farm, agent.

Lady Zuzu is a half-sister to MGSW/MG1P Optimizer, who set a course record in the Kent S. (G3) at Delaware Park. Her second dam is G1W Fantastic Find, a half-sister to G1W’s Dancing Spree and Furlough. Fantastic Find produced MG1W Finder’s Fee, herself the grand-dam of GSW Feathered.

Lady Zuzu is offered carrying her first foal, by War Front. War Front is the sire of 52 black-type winners in his first seven crops, including Champions Lines of Battle and Giovanni Boldini and G1W’s Air Force Blue, Declaration of War, and Jack Milton. War Front’s foals have earned more than $36 million to date.

Embellish the Lace (Hip 129), a G1 winning daughter of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver sold for $2,400,000 at The November Sale. She offered carrying her first foal, by Uncle Mo. Embellish the Lace was purchased by China Horse Club from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency.

Embellish the Lace was a winner at two, but did her best running at three, when she captured the Alabama S. (G1) at Saratoga last term. She won three times in six starts and earned $441,500.

Embellish the Lace is a half-sister to Travers S. (G1) winner Afleet Alex and to MSW Reporting for Duty. She is from the immediate family of MGSW Eye of the Tiger and SW Wildwood Flower, herself the dam of G1W Materiality and G2W/G1P My Miss Sophia.

Embellish the Lace is in foal to last year’s Leading First Crop Sire Uncle Mo, sire of 10 GSW and a Champion in his first crop, which are three-year-olds of 2016. His offspring have already earned more than $14.5 million.

 

Hip 123 Curalina – $3,000,000

 

Curalina (Hip 123), a three-time G1 winner by Horse of the Year Curlin sold for $3,000,000 at The November Sale. Offered as a broodmare prospect, Curalina was purchased by Shadai Farm from the consignment of Bluewater Sales, agent for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.

Curalina won or placed in 11 of 13 starts, including six wins. She captures four graded stakes in her career, including the La Troienne S. (G1), CCA Oaks (G1), Acorn S. (G1), and Shuvee H. (G3). She placed in four G1 events, including last year’s Breeders’ Cup Distaff. She earned $1,535,940.

Curalina’s dam Whatdreamsrmadeof, back in foal to Curlin, sold for $1,650,000 earlier this evening.

Cathryn Sophia (Hip 113), this year’s Kentucky Oaks (G1) sold for $1,400,000 at The November Sale. Offered as a broodmare prospect, Cathryn Sophia was purchased by SF Bloodstock from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Cathryn Sophia was an exceptionally fast two-year-old who carried her speed around two turns at three. She won six of nine starts and earned $1,229,720. Notably, Cathryn Sophia won her first four starts by a combined totaled of 41 ½ lengths, including a 16 ¼ length score in the Gin Talking S. at two.

The best offspring to date of her young sire Street Boss, Cathryn Sophia raced exclusively in stakes company after breaking her maiden at first asking at two. She was three-times placed in G1 events, accounting for the only three losses of her career.

Cassatt (Hip 112), a GSW in foal to Horse of the Year Curlin sold for $2,500,000 at The November Sale. Offered carrying her first foal, Cassatt was purchased by Elevage Bloodstock from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent.

A seven-time winner, Cassatt won the Monmouth Oaks (G3) at three. She earned $714,733 in her career. She is a daughter of Leading Sire Tapit, whose daughters have already produced stakes winners such as Dynamic Dash and Myfourchix.

Cassatt is out of Justenufftime, a half-sister to MSW/GSP Justenuffheart. That mare is a half-sister to Champion and Leading Sire Kitten’s Joy and to G1W Precious Kitten. Justenuffheart produced Champion Dreaming of Anna, herself the dam of GSW Dreamologist, and MG2W’s Lewis Michael and Justenuffhumor.

Baffled (Hip 104), dam of three graded stakes winners from her first four foals to race sold for $3,500,000 The November Sale. Offered in foal to Leading Sire Tapit, Baffled was purchased by Bridlewood Farm from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Baffled is most notably the dam of MG1W Constitution. Winner of the Florida Derby (G1) at three and the Donn H. (G1) at four, Constitution earned $1,031,591 in his career. In foal to Tapit, Baffled is carrying a full sibling to Constitution. Baffled has also produced GSW Jacaranda, and current G2W two-year-old Boynton.

Baffled is a half-sister to G1W Emcee and SW Spring Party. She is a full sister to G2W Surfer. She is from the immediate family of G1W Awesome Humor.

Whatdreamsrmadeof (Hip 100), dam of MG1W Curalina sold for $1,650,000 at The November Sale. Offered in foal to Curlin, Whatdreamsrmadeof was purchased by Summer Wind Equine from the consignment of Brookdale Sales, agent for Casa Farms.

Whatdreamsrmadeof is W/SP daughter of Graeme Hall and a half-sister to SW/GSP Ladyecho. Her second dam Andrea Ruckus is ancestress of GSW’s Gentleman Beau, Dundalk Dust, and Uncaptured.

Whatdreamsrmadeof is most notably the dam of MG1W Curalina, a three-time G1W of $1,535,940. Curalina recorded six wins in 13 career starts, including the Acorn S. (G1), CCA Oaks (G1), La Troienne S. (G1), and Shuvee H. (G3). A top filly in a strong crop, Curalina also placed in four G1 events, including last year’s Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1).

Whatdreamsrmadeof is back in foal to Curalina’s sire Curlin, a two-time Horse of the Year who is the sire of three G1 winners in 2016, including, in addition to Curalina, Champion Stellar Wind and MG1W Exaggerator.

Hip 91 Tapas – $1,300,000

Tapas (Hip 91), an unraced daughter of two-time Leading Sire Tapit sold for $1,300,000 at The November Sale. Offered in foal to prolific sire Medaglia d’Oro, Tapas was purchased by China Horse Club from the consignment of Paramount Sales, agent.

Tapas is a half-sister to G2 winner Justwhistledixie. That mare is the dam of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner New Year’s Day and 2016 MG2W Mohaymen. Tapas is also half-sister to G2 winner Chace City.

Medaglia d’Oro is the sire of Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and Champions Songbird and Vancouver. His offspring have earned more than $80,000,000 to date.

Stopchargingmaria (Hip 87), last term’s Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) victress sold for $2,800,000 at The November Sale. She was purchased by Three Chimneys Farm from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Winner of the Alabama S. (G1) and Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) at three, Stopchargingmaria is a three-time G1 winner of $3,014,000. She also won the Demoiselle S. (G3) at two, the Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2) at three, and the Shuvee H. (G3) and Allaire DuPont Distaff S. (G3) at four. A multiple winner at the highest level, Stopchargingmaria was a G1 winner at three and four and G1 placed at two. She was sold as a broodmare prospect.

By Tale of the Cat, Stopchargingmaria is out of the stakes winning Montbrook mare Exotic Bloom. Her second dam is a multiple stakes winner producer. Her immediate family further includes GSW’s Vision and Verse and Indriya.

Hip 72 Paid Up Subscriber – $1,100,000

Paid Up Subscriber (Hip 72), a four-year-old graded-stakes winner by Champion Candy Ride (ARG) sold for$1,100,000 at The November Sale. She was purchased by White Birch Farm from the consignment of Brookdale Sales, agent.

Paid Up Subscriber is the winner of this year’s Fleur de Lis H. (G2) and placed in the Delaware H. (G1) and the Spinster S. (G1). A four-time winner, Paid Up Subscriber has earned $558,300 to date. She was sold as a racing/broodmare prospect.

Paid Up Subscriber is a daughter of the W/SP Shriek, a daughter of Street Cry (IRE). Shriek is a half-sister to G2W Stanley Park and SW Turf Melody. The immediate family includes G1 winner Dreamy Mimi.

Hip 60 Luminance – $1,000,000

 

Luminance (Hip 60), a three-year-old track record setting daughter of Tale of the Cat sold for $1,000,000 at The November Sale. She was purchased by Don Alberto Corporation from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent.

Luminance broke her maiden at first asking, setting a track record for 5f at Del Mar at two. A winner at three, she also placed in the Santa Anita Oaks (G1). She is a winner this year at four with earnings to date of $212,858. She was sold as a racing/broodmare prospect.

Luminance is out of MG1W Versailles Treaty, dam of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner George Vancouver and G2W Saarland. The immediate family further includes G1 winners General Assembly, Gold Fever, and Boisterous.

Hip 59 Love the Chase – $1,950,000

 

Love the Chase (Hip 59), dam of North America’s Richest Racehorse California Chrome sold for $1,950,000 at The November Sale. The popular broodmare was offered in foal to Tapit by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent and purchased by John McCormack Bloodstock.

A winning daughter of prolific Maryland sire Not For Love, Love the Chase is best known as the dam of Horse of the Year California Chrome, who counts among his victories the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Dubai World Cup (G1). He has earned $14,452,650 in his 25 starts to date, and has found the winner’s circle 15 times and at ages two, three, and five. In an injury-shorted four-year-old season, California Chrome was second in the Dubai World Cup (G1) and the San Antonio Invitational S. (G2), the latter to the exceptional Shared Belief. He is pointing towards the inaugural Pegasus World Cup (G1) in January.

Love the Chase is in foal to two-time and current Leading Sire Tapit, sire of six Champions to date, among them Untapable, Stardombound, and Hansen.

Hip 37 f. Uncle Mo – Flattermewithroses – $380,000

Hip 37, a filly by last term’s Leading Freshman Sire Uncle Mo sold for $380,000 at The November Sale. The bay filly was purchased by Solis/Litt from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent. She was bred in Kentucky by Copper Water Thoroughbred Company, Ltd.

Hip 37 is by Uncle Mo, sire of GSW fillies such as Mokat, Aunti Joy, Lost Raven, Mo D’Amour, and Gomo. This filly is the first foal of Flattermewithroses, a SW daughter of Flatter. Her third dam is MGSW Fluttery Danseur, the dam of SW Derive.

Hip 36 c. Orb – Flashy American – $310,000

Hip 36, a colt from the second crop of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Orb sold for $310,000 at The November Sale. The chestnut colt was purchased by Davant Latham, agent from the consignment of Gainesway, agent. He was bred in Kentucky by Gainesway Thoroughbreds, Brian Graves, Kidder-Cole, et al.

This colt is the first foal of GSW Flashy American, by Flashy Bull. He is from the immediate family of MGSW I’m Already Sexy.

Hip 35 f. Scat Daddy – Entwine – $300,000

 

Hip 35, a filly by three-time Leading Sire Scat Daddy sold for $300,000 at The November Sale. The bay filly was purchased by Al Shahania Stud from the consignment of Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services. This filly was bred in Kentucky by Eutrophia Farm.

This filly is by Scat Daddy, sire of eight Champions, including current G1 winner Dacita (CHI), and of 2016 G1 winner Celestine.

Hip 35 is out of the Empire Maker mare Entwine. That mare is out of multiple G1 winner Flute, making her a half-sister to G2 winner Filimbi, and to Crosswinds, dam of 2016 G1 winner Weep No More. The immediate family further includes G1 winners Brian Boru, Workforce (GB), and Qualify (IRE).

Hip 25 f. Galileo (IRE) – Better Not Cry (Street Cry)

Hip 25, a filly by European Champion and prolific sire Galileo sold for $550,000 at The November Sale. The bay filly was purchased by Meridian International from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent. The popular filly was bred in Ireland by Elevage 11, LLC.

This filly is by Galileo, leading sire in Europe in seven of the last nine years. Galileo has already sire 62 G1 winners across the world, including undefeated Frankel (GB), himself already off to an exceptional start at stud.

The filly is the second foal out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare Better Not Cry. That mare is the daughter of Better Than Honour (Deputy Minister), who has already produced back-to-back Belmont S. (G1) winners Rags to Riches, Champion 3YO Filly of her crop, and Jazil. She has also produced G2 winner Casino Drive and stakes winner Man of Iron. She is the dam of Teeming, who produced G1 winner Streaming and stakes winners Treasuring and Cascading.

Better Than Honour sold for $14,000,000 at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton November Sale, a World Record price for a broodmare which still stands.

Fasig-Tipton has added two additional entries to the catalogue for the 2016 November Sale to be held on Monday, November 7 in Lexington, Kentucky. These entries are catalogued as Hips 176 and 177:

  • SHELBYSMILE (Hip 176): This 3YO Smart Strike filly was an impressive winner of the River Memories Stakes at Woodbine on November 5 against older fillies and mares, in which she earned a 91 Beyer. This lightly raced and improving filly has a quality pedigree featuring group/graded stakes performers. She will be consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Hunter Valley Farm, agent.
  • KISS TO REMEMBER (Hip 177): Impressive winner of the G2 Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs on November 5. She has earned over $750,000 to date and was a close second in the G1 Ballerina at Saratoga to G1 winner Unbridled Forever in 2015. Fasig-Tipton has added two more supplemental entries to the catalogue for the 2016 November Sale to be held on Monday, November 7th in Lexington, Kentucky.  These entries are catalogued as hips 174 and 175:

  • COVER SONG (Hip 174):  Regally bred three-year-old filly won G3 Autumn Miss S. in final time of 1:33.6 going a mile on turf at Santa Anita this past Saturday.  By Champion Racehorse and Champion Sire FASTNET ROCK, she is the first foal out of Classic winner and European Champion MISTY FOR ME (Galileo). Her two-year-old half-sister ROLY POLY (War Front) is a G2 winner and G1 placed this year in Europe, and is the morning line favorite for Friday’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Her rich international family also includes G1 winners BALLYDOYLE, DESERT WINE, MENIFEE, BLUERIDGE MOUNTAIN and FASLIYEV.  She will be offered as a racing/broodmare prospect by Spendthrift Farm LLC.
