Hip 516 c. Ghostzapper-Malibu Cougar: $800,000

Hip 516, a colt by Horse of the Year Ghostzapper, sold for $800,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The chestnut colt worked an eighth in 10:1 during Thursday’s under tack show (video). He was purchased by Baoma Corp from the consignment of Cary Frommer, agent.

The colt is the second foal out of the Malibu Moon mare Malibu Cougar, a full sister to Grade 2 winner Kauai Katie and Grade 3 winner Winding Way. The family further includes graded stakes winner Cimarron Secret and stakes winners More Than Pretty and Ingrid the Gambler.

 

 

Hip 490 c. Distorted Humor-Lemon Kiss: $850,000

Hip 490, a colt by leading sire Distorted Humor, sold for $850,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale (video). The bay colt worked an eighth in 10:2 during Thursday’s under tack show. He was purchased by Simon Callaghan, agent from the consignment of Eddie Woods, agent.

This colt is a half-sibling to three winners our of the stakes winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Lemon Kiss, including Grade 1 winner Lochte (Medaglia d’Oro). The dam, Lemon Kiss, is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Kiss the Kid. Hip 490 is from the immediate family of Grade 1 winner, champion, and hall of famer Black Tie Affair (IRE).

 

 

 

Hip 471 c. First Samurai-Kassidy’s Kiss: $350,000

Hip 471, a colt by First Samurai, sold for $350,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The dark bay or brown colt worked an eighth in 10:2 during Thursday’s under tack show (video). He was purchased by Mike Ryan, agent  from the consignment of Kenneth Lejeune Training Stables, agent.

Hip 471 is a half-sibling to two winners from as many to race out of the unraced Belong to Me mare Kassidy’s Kiss. This colt is notably a half-sibling to stakes winner Kiss N Scat (Scat Daddy). Kassidy’s Kiss is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Thirst For Peace. This colt is from the immediate family of Champion and Group 1 winner Painter (ARG).

Hip 468 c. Orb-Julie From Dixie: $525,000

Hip 468, a colt from the first crop of Kentucky Derby (G1) victor Orb, sold for $525,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The bay colt worked a quarter in 21:4 during Thursday’s under tack show (video). The colt was purchased by C. P. Beler from the consignment of Pike Racing, agent.

The colt is a half-brother to two-year-old winner Blame It On Dixie (Blame), out of the winning Dixie Union mare Julie From Dixie. Hip 468 hails from the immediate family of Grade 1 winner Princess Violet and graded stakes winners Apple of Kent, War Zone, Capital Secret, Set Alight, and Astudillo (IRE).

Hip 465 f. Into Mischief-Jilted: $375,000

Hip 465, an Into Mischief half-sister to multiple graded stakes winning juvenile Run Away and Hide, sold for $375,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The gray or roan filly worked an quarter in 22:0 during Thursday’s under tack show (video). She was purchased by Mike Ryan, agent from the consignment of Pike Racing, agent.

In addition to Run Away and Hide, this filly is a half-sibling to four other winners of out of the winning Runaway Groom mare Jilted. Her immediate family further includes Grade/Group 1 winners Hard Not to Like, Fierery Ensign, and Tan Bonita (VEN).

Hip 393 c. Tapizar-Free Flying Soul: $250,000

Hip 393, a colt by second-crop sire Tapizar, sold for $250,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The bay colt worked an eighth in 10:2 during Thursday’s under tack show (video). Hips 393 was purchased by Chocktaw Racing Stable from the consignment of Randy Miles, agent.

This colt is out of the stakes winning Quiet American mare Free Flying Soul, who has produced two winners to date. The second dam is multiple graded stakes winner Ruby Surprise. Hip 393’s immediate family further includes Group 1 winner Saratoga County.

Hip 388 c. Curlin-Franscat: $1,500,000

Hip 388, a colt by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, set the record for a Thoroughbred sold at public auction in Maryland when sold for $1,500,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The chestnut colt worked an eighth in 10:0 during Thursday’s under tack sale (video). The colt was purchased by Breeze Easy & John C. Oxley from the consignment of Hartley/de Renzo Thoroughbreds. Hartley/de Renzo purchased the colt from St George Sales at last year’s Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale, where he was the sale-topper.

Hip 388 is a half-brother to seven winners from as many to race out of the winning Stormin Fever mare Franscat, including stakes winners Swinger’s Party (Medaglia d’Oro) and Hubba Shake (Street Sense). He is from the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Ogyian and Honour and Glory.

 

 

Hip 373 c. Orb-Extra Sharp: $710,000

Hip 373, a colt from the first crop of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Orb, sold for $710,000 to take the lead during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The bay colt worked an eighth in 10:0 during Wednesday’s under tack show (video). Hip 373 was purchased by Dennis O’Neill from the consignment of Crupi’s New Castle Farm, agent.

This colt is a half-sibling to two winners out of the winning Cherokee Run mare Extra Sharp. The colt’s second dam is multimillionaire and multiple Grade 1 winner Sharp Cat. He hails from the immediate family of Group 1 winner Royal Anthem and graded stakes winner Star Recruit.

Hip 362 c. Paynter-Ellie Boo: $270,000

Hip 362, a colt from the first group of Grade 1 winner Paynter, sold for $270,000 during the second session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The bay colt worked an eighth in 10:2 during Wednesday’s under tack show (video). Hip 362 was purchased by Mike Ryan, agent from the consignment of Paul Sharp, agent.

This colt is a half-sibling to three winners out of the unraced Pulpit mare Ellie Boo, a full sister to stakes-placed Pulpit’s Treasure. He is from the immediate family of graded stakes winner Amelia’s Wild Ride.
