The Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale realized gains across the board during its successful third renewal on March 1 at Gulfstream Park. Led by a trio of seven-figure juveniles, the sale posted gains in gross, average, and median.

The top-priced offering of the evening was Hip 57, a daughter of Uncle Mo which sold for $1,500,000 to OXO Equine from the consignment of Cary Frommer, agent. Frommer purchased the filly for $250,000 at the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale. OXO Equine also signed for a $1,100,000 More Than Ready colt (Hip 156) offered by Frommer late in the sale. Frommer paid $235,000 for the colt last July.

The third seven-figure two-year-old was Hip 135, a speedy colt by Bernardini offered by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, agent. Eaton Sales, agent for M.V. Magnier purchased the colt for $1,450,000. Hartley/De Renzo purchased the colt for $350,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.

Overall, 74 juveniles sold for $25,115,000, up 16.3% from 66 sold for $21,590,000 in 2016. The $339,392 average was good for a 3.8% increase over last year’s average of $327,121, while the median rose 8.0% to $270,000 from $250,000 in 2016. The RNA rate was a historical sale low of 14.9%.
