Saratoga Sale Catalogue Now Online; Four Eclipse Champions Featured on Cover

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 252 selected yearlings for its 96th Saratoga Sale, to be held August 8-9 in Saratoga Springs, New York.  Sessions will begin each evening at 6:30 p.m in the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion.

This year’s catalogue cover features Saratoga’s four 2015 Eclipse Champion sale graduates.

“Saratoga produced four Eclipse Champions in 2015 – AMERICAN PHAROAH, SONGBIRD, STELLAR WIND, and TEPIN – more than any other individual Thoroughbred auction in the world,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning.  “And, not only are these horses great champions, they are arguably some of the most accomplished racehorses we’ve seen in some time – a testament to the type of quality our consignors offer at Saratoga.”

In data recently released by The BloodHorse MarketWatch, The Saratoga Sale once again ranks at the top of all major North American yearling sales by percentage of Grade 1 winners, Graded Stakes Winners, and Stakes Winners produced from horses sold.

“Another year of industry leading results both on the racetrack and in the sale ring in 2015 have attracted significant interest from sellers to Saratoga again in 2016,” continued Browning.  “Buyers will be presented with a tremendous group of yearlings when they arrive this year at the ‘Spa.’ ”

The catalogue may now be viewed online.  Print catalogues will be available from all Fasig-Tipton offices beginning July 1.

2016 July Selected Horses of Racing Age Catalogue Now Online

The interactive catalogue for Fasig-Tipton’s July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale is now available online.  The session will be held Monday, July 11 at 5 pm in Lexington, Kentucky.  It will precede the July Selected Yearling Sale that will take place the following day beginning at 10 am.

The catalogue currently features 100 accepted entries, but that number will grow as Fasig-Tipton will continue to review and accept nominations up until sale time.

“Now in its fourth year, this auction has gained a strong foothold with both buyers and sellers,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning.  “Our best advertisement, however, is the strength of our graduates.  The sale has produced 25% stakes horses and earners of more than $11.5 million to date, including last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Champion WAVELL AVENUE.”

Included in this year’s catalogue is the Dispersal of Eutrophia Farm, which consists of mares and foals, yearlings, two-year-olds, and Horses of Racing Age.

The sale’s enhanced online catalogue features pedigrees, race videos, statistical links, Ragozin “sheet” numbers, real-time past performances, as well as assessment of each horse by the Daily Racing Form’s national handicapper Mike Watchmaker.

Prospective buyers may also sign up for email alerts through Fasig-Tipton’s website to receive pedigree and race-record updates, as well as notifications of new sale entries as they are accepted up until sale time.

The July Selected Horses of Racing Age catalogue will also be available via the equineline sales catalogue app. Print catalogues will be available on the sales grounds by July 8.

Mrs. Alexander, along with her late husband Quentin, began breeding Thoroughbreds in 1970. Under the name of Eutrophia Farm, the Alexanders bred or raced five Ohio Champions and were often at the top of Ohio’s owner and breeder standings. Eutrophia’s most accomplished runner to date is MAGNA GRADUATE, a seven-time graded stakes winner of over $2.5 million. Mrs. Alexander and her family have also produced and campaigned numerous champions in the Hunter world.

“We are flattered that Mrs. Alexander has entrusted the sale of her breeding and racing stock with Fasig-Tipton,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “She, along with her late husband Quentin, operated a breeding and racing operation at the highest level for nearly five decades, and the quality of her stock is reflective of her passion for racing and love for all things equine.”

The interactive catalogue for the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale including the Eutrophia Farm Dispersal will be available online Wednesday, June 29th. Fasig-Tipton will continue to review and accept nominations up to the day of sale. A printed version of the catalogue will be available on the sales grounds by July 8th.

Yearling Numbers Increase for The July Sale; Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale Moved to Monday Evening

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 347 selected yearlings for The July Sale, to be held on Tuesday, July 12 in Lexington, Kentucky.

As a result of the increased numbers in the yearling catalogue, the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale will now be held the evening of Monday, July 11, preceding the yearling sale that will take place the next day beginning at 10 am.

“The continued growth of the July yearling catalogue, coupled with the popularity of the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale has prompted the schedule change,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “We’ll offer a quality group of Horses of Racing Age on Monday evening as our opening act, and then the July Selected Yearling Sale will take center stage the following morning.”

The July yearling sale is coming off a 2015 renewal that saw the highest average and median for the sale since 2007, resulting in a larger catalogue for the third consecutive year.

“This year’s catalogue is up in numbers, but just as importantly, boasts increased quality – including yearlings by current top ranked sires TAPIT, UNCLE MO, CURLIN, CONGRATS, CITY ZIP and MALIBU MOON,” Browning noted.

The July Sale, which counts Grade 1 winners NOBLE BIRD, DORTMUND, BIRDATTHEWIRE and STREET FANCY as recent graduates, is the first of Fasig-Tipton’s Selected Yearling Sales to be conducted this summer. Statistics recently released by The Blood-Horse MarketWatch once again rank these selected sales at the top of all major North American yearling sales by percentage of Grade 1 winners, graded stakes winners and stakes winners from horses sold.

The July Sale catalogue may now be viewed online and via the Equineline catalogue app. Print catalogues will be available by June 14.

Fasig-Tipton will also continue to accept nominations for the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale through the month of June.
