Hip 522: $330,000
Stoweshoe (Hip 522), a stakes winning full sister to MG2W Taris, sold for $300,000. Hunter Valley Farm, agent offered the well-bred filly, who was purchased by Rockbridge Bloodstock/M. Recio, agent.
The three-year-old filly won the Henry Mercer Memorial S. at Charles Town at two and has two wins in four career starts.
A West Virginia-bred, Stoweshoe was offered as a racing and/or broodmare prospect.
Hip 519: $330,000
Achiever’s Legacy (Hip 519), a Grade 1 placed stakes winner, sold for $330,000. The four-year-old City Zip filly was purchased by Lael Stable from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
From the family of MG1W, two-time Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart, Achiever’s Legacy has earnings of $192,560 to date. Her second dam is Canadian Broodmare of the Year Amelia Bearhart.
Achiever’s Legacy was offered as a racing and/or broodmare prospect.
Hip 431: $350,000
Funfair (Hip 431), a stakes winner in foal to the late Scat Daddy, sold for $350k. The broodmare was purchased by Olin Gentry, agent from the consignment of Darby Dan Farm, agent.
A precocious daughter of More Than Ready, Funfair did her best running at 2, during which season she won the Colleen S. at Monmouth. She hails from the family of Grade 1 winners Just the Time and Reluctant Guest.
Funfair is pregnant with her second foal. She produced her first foal, a filly by Malibu Moon, in 2015.
Hip 426: $395,000
Flashy American (Hip 426), a graded stakes winner in foal to Kentucky Derby winner Orb, sold for $395,000. The seven-year-old mare was purchased by Blue Sky Stable from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales, agent.
A prolific stakes performer, Flashy American is a GSW/G1P earner of $776,863. She won at five different tracks in the course of her career, including four stakes wins at four different tracks.
Flashy American is pregnant with her first foal. Orb’s first foals will arrive in 2016.
Hip 403: $190,000
Dorothy’s Spirit (Hip 403), a daughter of the late Scat Daddy in foal to Verrazano, sold for $190,000. The broodmare was purchased by Terry Miller, agent from the consignment of Select Sales, agent.
Dorothy’s Spirit is half sister to five winners, including Im a Dixie Girl, the stakes winning dam of talented three-year-old Mor Spirit, recent winner of the G1 Los Alamitos Futurity.
Dorothy’s Spirit’s produced her first foal, a filly by Curlin, in 2015. Verrazano’s first foals arrive in 2016.
Hip 389: $150,000
Darling Bird (Hip 389), a Birdstone mare in foal to young sire Gemologist, sold for $150,000. The mare was purchased by John McCormack from the consignment of Select Sales, agent.
A half sister to Grade 2 winner Forever Darling, Darling Bird hails from the family of Grade 1 winners Roamin Rachel, Cat’s Cradle, and Japanese Horse of the Year Zenno Rob Roy.
Darling Bird produced her first foal, a colt by Alternation, in 2015. Gemologist’s first foals will arrive in 2016.
Hip 338: $150,000
Bonnie Bear (Hip 338), a stakes producer in foal to the late Scat Daddy, sold for $150,000. The mare was purchased by China Horse Club from the consignment of Darby Dan Farm, agent.
A dark bay or brown mare by Gone West, Bonnie Bear has produced four winners from four foals to race, including the Grade 2 placed winner Blushing Bear. The mare is half sister to Grade 1 placed stakes winner Achiever’s Legacy, who will be offered as Hip 519 later today.
This well-bred broodmare is out of a half sister to MG1W, five-time champion, and millionaire Chief Bearhart.
Hip 318: $100,000
A dark bay or brown colt (Hip 318) from the first crop of G1 CashCall Futurity winner Violence sold for $100k. The colt was offered by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services, agent and purchased by Marc Ricker, agent.
The colt is half brother to the talented G2W/MGSW Bay to Bay, from the family of graded stakes winners J J’s Lucky Train and Mach Ride.
Hip 314: $115,000
Aunt Ellen (Hip 314), a stakes winner in foal to Bodemeister, sold for $115,000 early in the second session of the 2016 Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale. The mare was purchased by Bluewater Sales, agent from the consignment of James B. Keogh, agent.
The gray or roan Pure Prize mare is carrying her first foal. She hails from the family of graded stakes winners Starforaday, Meadow Flight, People’s Princess, Carolyn’s Cat, and Mufajaah.
